WELCOME

Wolverhampton & South Staffordshire Car Club are very proud to announce that 2010 will see the 50th running of their major Motorsport event and are also honoured that Bulldog Security Products Limited have agreed to sponsor the event for another year. This makes Bulldog the longest running sponsor of any event organised by W & SSCC.

The Bulldog International Rally of North Wales had its foundations very firmly planted back in 1958 when the club decided that it would run a road rally and from that point forward the event has gone from strength to strength. Some of the forests to be used in 2010 made their first appearance in the event when the club took a very progressive view in 1966 and changed the format of the rally from a road event to a stage event. This does not mean that the event is old and staid, far from it; the organising team ensure that there is something new and exciting each year to enthuse and delight competitors, officials and spectators of all ages. Forty-nine previous rally winners cannot all be wrong, and these include the likes of all the McRae family, Tony Pond, Stiq Blomqvist, Henri Toivonen, Marku Allen, Malcolm Wilson, Russell Brookes, Pentti Airikkala, Michelle Mouton and last but not least Ari Vatenen. Further information on the history of the event can be seen on the link below.

In 2009 the event successfully returned to the two most important championships in the UK: - The British Rally Championship and The British Historic Rally Championship. For 2010 the event is honoured to be chosen once again as the first round of both championships and will also be a round of a number of other high profile supporting championships. The Bulldog has always been pitched to offer rallying to competitors of all abilities and pockets and 2010 will be no exception with five individual events with their own identities and mileages. The rallies will be The Bulldog International Rally of North Wales, The Bulldog Historic, The Bulldog Challenge, The Bulldog National and The Bulldog Clubman.

The organisers have secured a new site in Welshpool for 2010 that is in easy reach of the motorway network and is located in an ideal position for the forests that the event uses. The event will be based at the new Livestock market which covers a 16 acre site to the north of the town with excellent facilities for competitors and officials alike. The new venue will be able to accommodate all of the events in one area while meeting the individual requirements of the different championships.

Therefore we ask what more could you want? - a superb base location, arguably the best forests in the world, sensible mileage at reasonable cost and rallying for competitors from National B to International level, if we were you we'd get our entries in early and beat the rush.
